Instagram has made a significant announcement on Thursday, launching its Creator Lab in India during an event held in Mumbai. This new educational resource is designed for content creators and will feature well-known Instagram users from the country. The Creator Lab will be available in both English and Hindi, accompanied by captions in five additional languages, making it accessible to a broader audience.
Instagram Creator Lab Launched in India
Building on the success of the Born on Instagram programme launched in 2019, the Instagram Creator Lab aims to provide valuable resources for Indian content creators. As shared by Paras Sharma, Director (Global Partnerships), Meta India, the content will be sourced from 14 prominent creators across India, who will share their insights and strategies. The material will be offered in Hindi and English, with additional captions provided in Bengali, Kannada, Malayalam, Tamil, and Telugu.
New Features: Comments in Stories, Birthday Notes, and Cutouts in DMs
Alongside the Creator Lab, Instagram has also introduced three new features to enhance user engagement. The first feature, Comments in Stories, allows users to comment on others’ stories, with these comments visible to all followers. These comments will disappear 24 hours after the story is posted, but will remain if added to Highlights. Users will also have the option to disable comments on their stories.
Another exciting feature is the ability to send cutouts of images as stickers in direct messages (DMs), expanding the functionality that previously existed for stories. Lastly, the new Birthday Notes feature will appear as a small hat icon on a user’s birthday, encouraging friends to engage with celebratory messages while adhering to the same privacy settings as regular Instagram notes.
This launch marks a significant step for Instagram in nurturing the creator community in India and providing tools for enhanced interaction on the platform.
